400º aniversario de la muerte de Fausto Socino - Congreso Internacional

To mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Faustus Socinus (Sozzini) in 2004, an international and multidisciplinary conference on the influence and significance of Antitrinitarism and Socinianism in the Netherlands will take place in Leiden on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th November. A wide variety of speakers will discuss the church-historical and cultural-historical effects of Socinianism on Dutch society. On the same occasion, a double bibliography will be presented, listing in the first place all Socinian writings, both pro and anti,  related to the Netherlands that have appeared until 1800; secondly, the book contains as complete a survey as possible of all modern studies and articles relevant to this field. During the conference the Leiden University Library will mount an exhibition of historical Sociniana (books and prints).

The conference is organized by:

  • the Doopsgezinde Historische Kring,
  • the Doopsgezind Seminarium at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam,
  • the Historische Commissie of the Remonstrantse Broederschap,
  • the Remonstrants Seminarium at Leiden University,
